About CHP

Clockhouse Press was first conceived by Tim Kenyon (MFAW ‘99). He felt it was important for the hard work of all those graduating from the program to be read and acknowledged for how truly powerful and important it is. After a struggle to organize the press and gain some financial backing to start it, Clockhouse Press became a reality in 2001.

Since then, CHP has gone through some changes, but not without making its mark. With the help of the Clockhouse Writers’ Conference, CHP began collecting manuscripts in 2003 to start publication. Through the hard work and dedication of its editorial staff, the press is finally underway. Its first publication was released at CWC in 2004, and several more are slated for the next calendar year.

And to fulfill the primary goal of the press, a portion of the proceeds from the sale of CHP books will go back to the MFA in Creative Writing program to help fund projects like the Visiting Writers’ Series.

If you are interested in submitting your manuscript for consideration, please read our submission guidelines before sending anything. We look forward to reading your work.
