CWC is About Your Life as a Writer
The Clockhouse Writers Conference combines solitary writing time with group discussions of works-in-progress, a place where rough and polished pieces can be shared and appreciated. Other conference events include a variety of workshops, formal readings, and group writing exercises. As we all know well, inspiration comes from the least likely sources and year upon year CWC strives to provide an encouraging environment where epiphanies can, and do, happen. CWC participants are solely responsible for facilitating the conference. Not every participant presents a workshop or reading every year, but the success of the conference relies on the “process” to make each conference unique. CWC participants are encouraged to read their work at formal readings which take place each night throughout the conference. CWC overlaps with the summer MFA residency and seeks to provide support to the MFA program, including a welcome reception for new students. Some conference offerings are open to MFA students. CWC participants are asked to sign up for “workshare” at check-in. This is a way for everyone to share in the day-to-day tasks of managing the conference. CWC is directed by a Board of Stewards and is organized by a steering committee of conference participants who coordinate and manage all aspects of the conference. |
